You are welcome at Holy Trinity!

When we say we welcome everyone, we really do mean everyone, without regard to age, race, ethnicity, gender identities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, physical ability, family status, or mental ability.

In 2007, Holy Trinity was accepted into the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) program, a program of ReconcilingWorks, to identify congregations, synods, colleges, seminaries, and other Lutheran organizations that are welcoming to LGBTQ Christians. We are proud to be one of growing number of RIC communities in the U.S. and Canada.

The RIC Committee supports the congregation’s intentional welcome to and full inclusion of persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities and works to maintain awareness of Holy Trinity’s RIC status through worship, education, publicity, and participation in community events.

The RIC Committee meets regularly and welcomes visitors and new committee members. Check the church calendar for our next meeting (they are usually on a Monday.)

9:30am - Registration and Snacks
10:00am-12:00pm - Workshop

How can our congregations be places of welcome for transgender and gender non-binary folks? The starting point for that journey is learning how to discuss the nuances of gender identity and sexual orientation in order to provide a strong foundation of welcome.

The Gender Justice Teach-in will give us the tools to be more welcoming and to take action:

  • a vocabulary for welcome

  • fresh ways to discuss gender identity and sexual orientation that look for commonalities, rather than categories

  • rich biblical foundation for trans inclusion

  • ways churches have successfully made worship more welcoming to trans and non-binary folks

  • tools and tactics to make your church spaces more intentionally welcoming of trans identities

  • a survey of opportunities for action in the current legislative landscape that offer faith-led advocates

  • beyond national and state-level action, learn how to implement proactive policies and programs in your congregation
This workshop will be led by Joey Lopez from More Light Presbyterians and is hosted by the Reconciling in Christ Committee at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2723 Clark Ave, Raleigh, 27607.
